Who We Are

The New Student Engagement Board brings together university administrators, faculty, staff and students to:

  • Share best practices in student support and engagement.
  • Strengthen cross-campus partnerships and collaborations.
  • Discuss solutions to administrative challenges.
  • Ensure that units maximize resources and avoid duplication of efforts.

NSEB supports all students and student programming, but we devote particular time and effort to ideas and initiatives that support new Comets, from freshman and transfer students to international and graduate students.

Membership

Membership in the New Student Engagement Board is driven by its organizational goals, priorities and needs and thus is directly tied to participation in one of NSEB’s groups.

Individuals serve three-year terms and must be nominated by current members of a group and approved by the NSEB leadership team in order to become a member.

NSEB members typically serve in several capacities:

  • Attend NSEB meetings in February, April, July, October and December.
  • Participate in regularly scheduled group meetings.
  • Take part in group-led projects or initiatives.
  • Serve on special task forces upon request.

If you’re interested in learning more or attending future NSEB meetings, contact us at nseb@utdallas.edu.

Groups

The New Student Engagement Board is organized around groups, small teams of administrators, faculty, staff and students who work together to improve the new student experience at UT Dallas.

Groups provide opportunities for NSEB members to:

  • Communicate regularly with colleagues from other administrative and departmental units.
  • Discuss upcoming events, strategic project and other matters of importance.
  • Participate in group-led efforts aimed at increasing new student engagement.

Bylaws and Organizational Structure

Bylaws provide governance structure and policy guidelines for the New Student Engagement Board.

Bylaws are reviewed every three years to ensure that NSEB not only fulfills its mission but also evolves over time to address the ever-changing needs of new students.
